Field Trips
Campers will have the opportunity to visit the Legon Botanical Gardens. Campers will engage in a plethora of activities which include a canopy walk, canoeing and an educational session about the plants and wildlife native to Ghana.
Campers will visit Trashy Bags Africa to learn about recycling and the impact plastic waste is having on Ghana.
Tech Engagement: Ghana Code Club will provide resource personnel to come and provide a three day tech experience for the campers.
Learning Outcomes
To collaborate intentionally and collectively to create a set of agreements that foster a positive culture for the duration of the camp
To learn how to utilize their community (other campers) to leverage their own success in completing their personal projects
Identify a problem/barrier within their community that they personally connect with and think they can change
Create proposal for solution to barrier/problem
To effectively communicate/share their personal project to other members of the community
Why is Summer Camp Important?
Camp Importance:
Provides a safe and fun space for campers during the summer
Addresses the summer learning gap
Enhances campers abilities to communicate and share their thinking and learning
Equips campers with new skills (e.g journaling, tracking progress, planning)
Helps campers understand the importance of goal setting and personal planning.
Positively impact campers abilities to retain information and critical thinking skills
Provides a low stakes environment for campers to make mistakes and build resilience, self-esteem and self confidence
